Apologies for the long wait for an update. Things have been insane this side, Fiendish Productions has been involved in numerous productions and a few fellow fiends have been helping me with all the work. Thanks Natalie, Ziggy & Jacques. ORIGINAL AFRICAN - 16 MARCH 2009
Channel O has tentavily commissioned Fiendish Productions to shoot their celebrity profile show 'Amplified'. I've already done one episode which was shot on sunday night, behind the scenes of Thandiswa Mazwai's new music video 'Ingoma'. Fiendish will also be doing the production of 'Stars Top Ten'.

Bonngoe Productions has asked me to direct 'Emcee Africa II'. We are currently in pre production and I should be all over africa in april and may. Mass work.... taste the fun!

ELECTIONS 2009 - 25 FEB 2009
My latest music video was launched this evening to the media.

RJ Benjamin & Bongo Riot 'The Power is in Your Hands'

The video is for SABC 2's 'The Power is in Your Hands' campaign for the 2009 elections. Fortune Masina (SABC 2 & Urban Afro) spearheaded the idea to do a hit track to help promote the campaign. With help from his partner Themba at Urban Afro Entertainment they produced this track which feautures RJ Benjamin, Bongo Riot (Gang of Instrumentals), the Joburg City Chamber Choir and Zhethu.

The music video was an after thought, SABC 2 loved the track so much they demanded a music video. That's where I come in. Fortune approached me with a very short production schedule and I decided to mos def attempt it. Letitia Masina, a recent award winning producer, came up with the initial idea. I decided to take this simple idea and make it into this video you see her now...simple :)

The result was awesome. Thanks to James Frater and his team, Mutodi (Mutodi Films) for the equipment, Letitia and her production team and Fortune and Themba at Urban Afro for all the hard work.

MAKING MOVES - 10 FEB 2009
I directed a show called Making Moves in 2007, this year at the SAFTAS we got the award for best educational show. We beat heavyweights like Takalani Sesame! Big up to Pepsi, Tish & Kojo! Making Moves, an SABC education initiative, showcases young entrepreneurs who have made business's from nothing. The aim is to inspire the youth to get up and 'make their move'and realise that regardless of your situation you can be a success. Watch out for season 2 on SABC 1....

...WITH A BANG! - 29 JAN 2009
The year has def started off with a bang aka Tay Grin's music video is completed. I can't put it up before the official release but keep checking back here, it will be soon! Tuks Rag Queen Crowning 2009 event was a success, the graphics came out really nicely and complimented the event perfectly.

New developments, a few very exciting projects seeing things the Fiendish way. A partnership with Urban Afro on a top secret high profile music video! Emcee Africa Season 2 is about to return, a new twist this time round.

Even all the rain has brought in some work, Aero Truck wants a video done about the danger of trucks without mudguards in the rain. Have you ever tried to overtake a truck in the rain? I also have an awesome shoot and edit for an event in George with Show Group. It's going to be mad fun! Another music video possibly coming in March with an emcee I really admire - J-Town!

HAPPY NEW YEAR - 9 JAN 2009
Wow the new year has arrived already! After a short holiday in Cape Town I'm back up and running. The post production for the Malawi Coca Cola Kingdom Anthem ft Tay Grin and Wendy Harawa has begun. The first cut is looking amazing and the XDCAM footage has been a hassle free intergration into FCP. The footage looks crisp and clean but still has that cinematic progressive edge. Below is a frame grab of my favourite shot.

Other projects this month include the AV graphics for the Tuks Rag Queen Beauty Pageant, Cleo Magazine Website Videos and finially finishing my website (this isn't my real website - just got tired of seeing 'under construction').

MALAWI FUN!! - 19 DEC 2008
In Malawi, on the southern tip of Lake Malawi near a small town called Mangochi. It's beautiful here at the resort we're staying at, Club Makokola, one problem though....the weather gods haven't been our friends....

REACH FOR A DREAM - 13DEC 2008
Some pics from a shoot I directed and filmed for SABC 2. Thanks to Fortune Masina. It was for the charity REACH FOR A DREAM, they took a young boy with muscular dystrophy scuba diving at Scuba City. It's his dream to scuba dive and he loved it! Something nice before the holidays!

'SITE' UP - 11DEC 2008
It’s not really my full site yet.... just a news thread.
Been desperate to get something up but it’s just been a crazy past 3 months. Had the opportunity to work with some awesome clients and produced some great videos. Thanks to Bonngoe, Redcube, React, Caxton, Aero Truck, Bowman Gilfillan, Showgroup, Spitfire, SABC 2 (Fortune Masina) and Nic Regisford.

Big news is the music video I’m doing for the Malawi Coca Cola campaign, thanks Gerrard! It’s an anthem for the Coca Cola Kingdom by Tan Grin (His Royal Phlyness) and Wendy Harawa (The Phly Minister). 3 days at Lake Malawi shooting a music video, no problem.

I have the chance to work in the XDCAM format and shoot with the Sony F350.Thanks to Craig Brown at Digitalfilm. I’ve been a little scared to try it since I’m a devout Panasonic fiend. But the Sony F350 has some impressive features - interchangeable lenses, 1/2” CCD's, variable frame rate, 1080P. I'm excited to work with it and broaden my horizons. What I've gathered from all the reviews on the net is that the picture quality is awesome. It's a small crew, James Frater - DOP, Gayle Olivier - stylist, Lauren Booyzen - make up and myself directing the video.

Looking fwd to next week when we start.....expect some epic stuff!
